Warren H. Hunt, Jr., Ph. D.
Dr. Warren H. Hunt, Jr., FASM is currently Executive Director of The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS), where he is responsible for leading the execution of the society’s strategic plan and staff management. He holds a B.E. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. He has served as an adjunct professor at both Case Western Reserve University and Carnegie Mellon University. He is also a registered Patent Agent with the USPTO.
Dr. Hunt began his career in 1977 at the Alcoa Technical Center, working in R&D and management focused on new product and process development. In 1996, Dr. Hunt formed Aluminum Consultants Group, Inc., acting as President until 2005, with clients in primary metals, manufacturing, government, and legal sectors. Dr. Hunt has served the metals profession throughout his career at TMS, ASM International, and The Aluminum Association. He served as chair of the Pittsburgh Chapter of ASM and was recognized as the chapter’s Outstanding Young Member. He is also a member of Alpha Sigma Mu, Tau Beta Pi, and Sigma Xi. He is an ASM Fellow and received the Aluminum MMC Consortium Leadership Award. He was recognized with two IR 100 Awards, the Alcoa Laboratories Merit Award, and the Alcoa A.V. Davis Award for Team Accomplishment. He holds nine patents, published 50 papers, and edited three books.
